Sam Anglo Open Format Dj & Producer Born in a small Sussex village to a Hippy parent in 1980, gave me a unique start in life, to say the least. Times were hard at some points, but the music was always booming out of the hazy smoked-filled lounge. The people were always interesting, along with spending a week in the summer holidays at Glastonbury Festival every year all added to the eclectic mix of culture, sounds, and freedom to grow and develop my character. There was always vinyl on the record player at home and I was taught at a young age the importance of looking after your sound and respecting the art that went into the process and the artwork that enveloped it to protect the precious music inside. SDMS aka Shivers Down My Spine is really glad to be part of the south coast dj community. As she represents Worthing, SDMS enjoys playing there (mostly) but you can also find her in Brighton. Since she was brought up in a house full of vinyls with jazz, classic music, soul, electronica, bossa nova and global sounds, she goes beyond the pure beat and drops a tune that’s maybe jazzier, darker, more oriental – slightly different somehow. SDMS loves the energy of African drums and the pueblo feel of Latin tunes, appreciates good harmonising and slow evolving pace of electronica.
Shelley Stafford began her DJ career back in 1999 when she worked as a Saturday girl in Pure Plastic Record Shop in Worthing – The love for vinyl & beat mixing began! Hard House & Trance in the early days with also a love for vocals, pianos & house music… Shelley has warmed up & been on the lineup with the likes of Tall Paul, Boy George, Brandon Block, Paul Helliyer, Colin Dale & Mc Lucky, Nicky Blackmarket, Matt Cassar, Ben Meredith, Alex P, Judge Jules & Krafty Kuts… Residencies have included the Honey Club, The Zap, Tzar Bar, Hed Kandi, Sitting Pretty, Downstairs to Dance and many more across Worthing, Brighton & London, hosting her own nights Get Your Vinyl Out & co hosting Sitting Pretty in Worthing & Downstairs to Dance. Taking inspiration from a diverse selection of DJs, from EZ and Nasty Crew’s Mak 10, through to Jaguar Skills, Jazzy Jeff and Diplo, Shiftz has been playing garage, grime and 140 bass in clubs around the UK and internationally for the past 15 years. His unique style of 3 deck mixing and live edits has seen him play guest spots on Kiss FM and BBC 1Xtra, as well as supporting artists such as Diplo, D Double E, Todd Edwards, Sir Spyro, hip hop legend Just Blaze, and many more. With several productions signed to the fast rising Step 2 Recordings, Shiftz is one to watch.
Shnucklz is a music lover who grew up listening to reggae (mum), his first memories are of the jungle scene, being from London, he was heavily influenced by the people he grew up with and started to like the music that ‘the older lot’ were listening to in the youth clubs. His favourite stations at the time were ‘Kool FM’ and ‘Freak FM’ and he has a massive soft spot for ‘old skool jungle’ that will never leave. For him, it was the music that started everything off. He became engrossed in the garage music at the time and started collecting records, even before he got decks! Shnucklz visited many well-known record shops with his mum, including places such as ‘Uptown Records, ‘Blackmarket Records’ and a no longer existing ‘Release the Groove’. Schnucklz is derived from the word knuckles, but simply with a ‘Shh’ in front of it and a creative change in the spelling.
In the late 90s Slikmix was gifted a pair of Citronix turntables and transformed his parents garage into a studio. Starting out with a 6 pack of house vinyl and some random jungle tracks, Slikmix practised the art of beat matching over and over again. Leading into the early 2000’s Slikmix got his debut on the airwaves alongside DJ Merge, securing a regular slot on one of the biggest radio stations in Essex, it was from this long serving residency that Slikmix managed to fine tune his sound and performance. With regular trips to London record shops, Slikmix was able to network with the likes of Nicky Blackmarket, Cameo, Dizzy Rascal and more! By the mid 00’s Slikmix was well established alongside Merge with residencies across Essex, London & Kent. Jack Bone, known to fans as Sprat, has been captivating audiences since he burst onto the scene in 2021. Drawing inspiration from his brothers and the vibrant free party culture, Sprat has quickly carved out a niche with his dynamic and infectious sets. A key member of the Diptek collective, Sprat regularly delivers high-energy performances through radio, livestream and events showcasing his versatility and passion for music
My passion for House music started off 88/89 listening to Hip pop. I then moved into House music, following the likes of Paul Oakenfold. I started playing vinyl from 95/96 playing hard house tunes then moved onto trance, house and funky house. These days since 2014 I’m more into Deep house, Afro house vibes, organic House infused with Melodic and progressive House. Back in the 00s I was playing vinyl on the London boat parties then my own local events with a good friend of mine, then moved to the coast, where there I’ve found a chilled vibe playing deep house, organic house and soulful house. I’ve played alongside some great DJs: Terry Farley, Judge Jules, Secondcity, George Meddles, Tim Cullen, and most recently Brandon Block and Lisa Loud. I also run my own events called ARTEMIX here on the South East coast.
DJ Stevie Bee loves to see people dancing and enjoying themselves to his addictive toe-tapping energy. Stevie can go off piste with some old school bangers from time to time and also stays on top of the new sounds hitting the dance floors, so expect to hear these. Stevie loves a holiday and his vibes come from the small club scene in Ibiza and the Sunset Vibes from Greece. This is where his love of house music started all those years ago. Stevie has had a great year to date; DJ-ing for charity, Escape Bar and Forrest Row Worthing, Italian Apres Ski event in Sauze D’Oulx and running and managing the Sunset Vibe nights at the infamous Big Beach Cafe, Hove over the summer months where he collaborated with 6 other local and International DJs.
